the Tarot Advisory
Dear James,
I have been watching, with great interest, "America's
Psychic Challenge." I see you did a reading to see who
would be the winner of this past season's "American Idol."
Any chance you'd be willing to do a reading to see who
would win on this show: Michelle or Jackie?
"Psychic" Viewer

Dear "Psychic" Viewer,
Thanks for this submission. I, too, had watched this show with
great interest. And, as with "American Idol," I wanted to see if
the Tarot could possibly tell me who would win this
competition.
This is the reading I conducted a few hours before the finale
was set to air, using the
Tarot of the Angels, published by Lo
Scarabeo:
the Question: Who will win "America's Psychic Challenge?"

the Spread: the Two Options Spread

the Cards Drawn:
Central Issue: Temperance

Option 1: Michelle Whitedove
the Cards for this Option:
the Stars, 2 of Wands, 10 of Pentacles

Option 2: Jackie
the Cards for this Option:
the Hanged Man, Ace of Pentacles, 6 of Swords

Temperance, representing the central issue, is a card from the Major Arcana. As such, this can
suggest that a major lesson is being learned through this situation. Temperance usually indicates a
need for patience and moderation. It suggests a need for balance, not going to extremes. Having said
this last point, this thought occurs to me: Michelle and Jackie are portrayed as polar opposites on the
show, each to her admission. Michelle has said that she walks with the Angels, and represents the
Light, while she says that Jackie represents the Dark. Jackie is a Voodoo priestess, working in the
Dark Arts.
Also, Temperance is usually illustated as an Angel pouring water from one cup to another. This may
be a telling clue as to the winner here, as Michelle says that she communicates with her guides and
angels. This card can mean that one's Guardian Angel is watching over the situation.

Turning my attention to the cards representing Michelle, I see the Stars as a positive sign. This card
can mean that someone is in the spotlight, being recognized, and has achieved a form of "celebrity
status." This card, like Temperance, is a Major Arcana card, and carries some weight here. Also, like
Temperance, this card can mean that one is surrounded by angelic beings. The usual picture on this
card is of a naked woman pouring pitchers of water into a pool of water, and on land, respectively.
Being naked can represent "exposure." Above her are eight stars, with one in the center being larger
than the others. This can represent being in the spotlight, or having your name "up in lights." A more
personal aspect of these stars for me is that angels have shown me once, in a dream, that they are
beams of light. Stars are said to be points of light, as they are most typically illustrated with a
number of points. So, this card here on Michelle's side would validate her claim that she walks with
the Angels. This card also suggests having high hopes for the future.
The 2 of Wands, as the next card, is also promising. It is a card of planning, and as such, is associated
with the future. It can also represent a person who can see the future, which would indicate a psychic
ability (precognition is the term for being able to see future events). For Michelle, as a person, the
combination of the Stars and the 2 of Wands would suggest that she is on the right path, that this
work she is doing is part of her life's path, why she is here. The pairing also indicate a strong intuitive
ability, one that is being, or has been, developed. With the 2 of Wands, Michelle must be careful not
to think too highly of herself, that she is somehow better than other people around her (as she might
think of herself in comparison to Jackie).
