frequently asked questions about the Tarot (FAQs) |
What is Tarot? The Tarot is a deck of 78 cards, used as a tool for self-discovery. There are two parts to a Tarot deck: the Major Arcana, 22 cards that speak to our spiritual evolution; and the Minor Arcana, 56 cards that speak to our daily activities in life. How is the Tarot used? Some practitioners use the Tarot as a tool for meditation, some for ritual magick and spell work, and others for divination or forecasting. For me, the Tarot is a focusing tool to activate my intuition. I use it as a divinatory or forecasting tool. I am curious about having a reading, but I am also nervous and afraid. Should I have a reading? I always tell people who ask this question that they should not, because of the fear they have around it. I tell people to examine their fears, because they create a block to fully receiving the information that may be helpful. Do you tell people anything bad, like they will die? This question, in my opinion, is somewhat linked to the previous question. People fear they will receive disturbing news in a reading. For me, it is unethical to tell a client that he or she will die, so I don't do it. I don't even like it when a client poses that question to me (I always answer, "You will someday, as we all will."). |
